Beyond a conversation
A traditional chatbot may describe how to send an email, but the owner still has to do the work. An AI agent needs more than a persuasive answer: it needs an account, an allowed action, a recoverable task and a result that can be checked. RUBI separates those responsibilities so planning cannot be mistaken for execution.

Available controls and recorded evidence
Recorded tests exercised email reading from the RUBI mailbox and sending back to that same mailbox. The provider returned a message ID, and a later execution cycle did not resend the message. The task console also exposes scheduled starts, cancellation and Operator X Emergency Stop.
Connections and operating conditions
This is not unrestricted control of every application. External accounts need their own authorization, and device work depends on the appropriate Desktop or Mobile connection. Provider email acceptance does not prove that a recipient read the message.
Security and permissions
The owner policy is checked before tools run. Sensitive actions can wait for approval. Stop revokes Operator X work without pretending that an already accepted external action can be undone.

How is an AI agent different from a chatbot?
A chatbot produces a response. An agent can use authorized tools to perform a task and retain the outcome. In RUBI, a plan alone is never evidence of completion.
Does autonomy remove human control?
No. Autonomy operates inside your permissions. Approval, cancellation and Operator X Emergency Stop remain separate controls.
